Theia
Hello fellow devotees of 17th century drama!
I have been invited to explain how I intend to develop my role in The Fantastic Follies of Mrs Rich, and the artistic processes I'm using to interpret my character… Basically, I will be relying on a combination of my innate Scottish grit, determination and special doggy treats.
Accent wise, I’m thinking Dame Maggie Smith in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, sort of posh Scots. Obviously I will be working in close collaboration with my voice coach, but hopefully not too much of the 'braw bricht moonlicht nicht' stuff.
Although this is my first live theatre performance, I am fortunate to have the sisterly help and support of Mossup, who played Crab in the 2014 version of The Two Gentlemen of Verona and also penned a Whispers From The Wings blog. Consequently she thinks that she knows everything, and is very free with her advice. I have decided to completely ignore her and pursue Stanislavski’s system instead. Should be interesting.
Well, dear readers, I apologise for the brevity of my first blog post. There will be plenty more to come, with (hopefully) some images of us taken in rehearsals... Did I mention there are two canine performers? I am joined on stage by Little Lossie and I have graciously allowed her to add a few words of her own at the bottom of the page (she is very young…).
For now, love and licks from Theia (cù mòr faltach).
Lossie
