Our productions of The Merry Wives of Windsor over the years have included many famous actors playing the 'fat knight' Falstaff: Jay Laurier in 1940; Anthony Quayle in 1955; Clive Swift in 1964; Brewster Mason in 1968 and 1975; Peter Jeffrey in 1985; Leslie Phillips in 1996; Richard Cordery in 2002; Simon Callow in 2006 and Desmond Barrit in 2012.
