RSC Summer School

Open to anyone aged 18 and over the RSC Summer School is an opportunity to spend a week hearing from the cast of our shows, creative team members, RSC Staff and leading academics. A chance to find out more about Shakespeare's plays, theatre and the company.  

The RSC Summer School is programmed in collaboration with the Shakespeare Institute, University of Birmingham.

Unwrapped: Onstage Demonstrations 

Our Unwrapped demonstrations offer a peek into the rehearsal room, with the Assistant Director and members of the cast looking at moments from the play. They give an insight into how a scene is taken off the page and onto the stage, and show the type of exercises and discussion that took place during rehearsals. Suitable for age 12+

Director and Creative Team Talks

We offer talks with a show's director, writer, acting company or creative team in conversation, talking about some of the influences and decisions that have created the production. From rehearsal room processes and design choices, to characterisation and relationships, this is a fascinating insight into the creative process.

Discover a fresh, thought-provoking programme of high profile talks and events designed to open up new ways of engaging with theatre. With a focus on bold ideas, cultural crossovers, and meaningful conversations, the ‘In-Conversation’ series will offer audiences a chance to explore how the RSC’s artistic work connects to the wider world. Across the year, expect insightful discussions from explorations of Shakespeare’s women to timely conversations on rhetoric and politics, each event is crafted to spark curiosity, invite reflection, and welcome audiences into the heart of the RSC’s creative process.
