The first 16 teachers have qualified in our certificate to use our rehearsal room techniques in the classroom and bring Shakespeare's plays to life for young people.
After a successful year, a group of 16 teachers have become the first to complete our new education programme. The teachers from our Associate Schools completed either a Certificate in Teaching Shakespeare or in Leading Teaching Shakespeare after taking part in a range of RSC-led teacher development activities.
A further 13 teachers from schools across the country received the Certificate in Teaching Shakespeare, the final step in an immersive training programme. The programme, which consists of Foundation, Intermediate and Certificate levels, trains teachers on how to confidently use rehearsal-room techniques in the classroom, bringing the plays to life for young people as they encounter Shakespeare, perhaps for the first time.
The group studied plays and watched performances during their training days in Stratford before producing and presenting research projects reflecting on their experience using these new teaching methods.
The next Foundation course has now sold out, but there are spaces available for later on in the year. To find out more about the courses, please contact our Education Coordinator Lucy Rossiter.
