The Fellowships are for students, academics and post-grads interested in digital story-telling. The six Fellows will shape the future of theatre experiences for audiences using the latest digital technology.

They will develop spatial computing skills that can be applied to theatre and live performance, with access to Magic Leap technology, skills and expertise, alongside the breadth and depth of the RSC’s theatrical knowledge and experience.

They will get expert input from the RSC, UK university partners including the University of Birmingham, Goldsmiths (London) and University of Portsmouth and Magic Leap technologists, on everything from dramaturgy and stage design to user experience, audience insight and developer skills. They will also work with external industry specialists throughout the fellowship.

The results of the R&D will shape the next stage of the RSC and Magic Leap partnership including the development of larger-scale experimental projects such as a tabletop theatre experience. 

This announcement comes as the greatest minds in spatial computing join together at Magic Leap’s first developer conference in Los Angeles (L.E.A.P Con).

The Fellowships are available to university graduates and post-doctoral students who already have experience of theatre and/or spatial computing, and want to explore the future possibilities in this area.

The deadline for applications is 3 January 2019. Interview workshops will take place on Monday 21 January in London.
